Local designers showed off their creations at the recent property exhibition

ADDING a stylish touch to the StarProperty.my Fair 2014 were works by design mavens Calvin Thoo, Aaron Von and Datuk Raymond Jolly of Von Jolly Couture. Their creations were shown on the runway at the recent four-day property extravaganza, held at i-Walk, Shah Alam, Selangor.
Thoo, whose regular customers include celebrities and royalty, sent out a collection named Reflections Of Nature. These drew upon the elements of both flora and fauna, but reinterpreted in elegant forms.
The different looks by Thoo were observably feminine. With a soft form, each piece proved to be just the dash of subtle radiance that a woman would need. Colourways were of soft pastels and standout shades, embellished with a sumptuous sparkle.
Thoo graduated from RMIT in Australia with a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion in 1996. The signature cuts and silhouettes of his clothes have since earned him a special place in the local fashion industry.
Von Jolly Couture used ethnic-inspired textiles to promote a homogenous identity of Malaysia.
Represented by their eponymous label Von Jolly Couture, designers Von and Jolly showcased a collection that reflected on unity. Le Femme Merveille is said to also give meaning to an idea of a strong female figure facing the world challenges today.
It highlighted a theme of diversity with the use of ethnic design elements. These comprised contemporary Malaysian batiks, form fitting cuts reminiscent of the Chinese cheongsam and Indian raw silk.
As it is, the duo has been dubbed as the “fashion princes of Malaysian contemporary batik” by Fashion TV UK.
Their label highlights the importance of integration and harmony through high fashion.
This recent edition of the StarProperty.my Fair 2014 saw a partnership between i-City and StarProperty.my. It gave a new spin to the series of events organised by StarProperty.my as an ideal venue for developers to showcase their latest projects.
